Russian Valentin Yudashkin is the only designer in his native country who can say he designs haute couture (he was honored the Syndicate of High Fashion in Paris in 2003). The designer is becoming increasingly famous outside of Russia, his ultra-feminine, intricately detailed dresses becoming a global fashion phenomenon.
The gowns presented at Yudashkin's Milan Fashion Week exhibition were breathtakingly glamorous. Yudashkin's designs channeled the Golden Age of Hollywood with their carefully fitted busts and tailoring meant to amplify curves. The color pallette was overwhelmingly metallic, nearly each of the pieces in silver or the occasional glittery cream.
Sportswear was equally sophisticated and refreshingly wearable. This shorts suit was a definite winner.
